Lasers have been users for years in various medical settings. Whether it is just a simple operation to entirely delicate procedures, lasers have always been one of the doctor’s powerful tool to carry out the task.

In the area of facial cosmetic surgery, lasers play a big role in making skin resurfacing highly effective.

The latest laser technology has been used to fade age spots and smooth out wrinkles. Skin rejuvenation has never been this effective without the help of the laser technology. And considering the fact that the latest models of lasers are gentler on the skin, and promote faster recovery time, facial surgeons and patients alike are thrilled with the current developments.

Dr. John Renucci, a plastic surgeon from Plastic Surgery Associated in Grand Rapids has this to say about the current development.

"The newest lasers also are more exact and, after treatment, there's a faster recovery time.”

Lasers are known to have the ability of making abnormal pigmentations fade such as age spots and unsightly veins. They are also used to stimulate new collagen growth, smooth out wrinkles, and tighten skin.

Lasers also offer an alternative to having a facelift. Normally, the skin’s different layers change over time. The top layer, called the epidermis, becomes while the second layer, called the dermis, loses its elasticity. This results in more lines, wrinkles, and sagging. This also causes acne scarring, spider veins, and other imperfections to become more noticeable.

Different lasers target specific areas and structures in the skin. When used in skin rejuvenation, the laser light beam hits the skin in a targeted area and the skin cells absorb the light energy and are destroyed. Untreated skin cells remain intact.
