And then there is 'Micro' Liposuction

If you think you look great already, push the envelope some more. Yes, people who are already in good shape but need to get rid of a small area of fat that is resistant to diet and exercise – "the bulges that just won't budge" – can opt for a liposuction technique especially made to treat smaller areas.

Micro-liposuction, launched sometime in 2005, is one of the latest trends in cosmetic surgery. Members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) are recommending “micro-lipo” because it is less invasive and has a quicker recovery time than the traditional liposuction procedure.

Using use smaller instruments and targeting smaller areas, micro-liposuction allows plastic surgeons to refine liposuction. Patients can actually resume their normal routine 3 to 4 days after micro-lipo with very little visible signs. Instead of the large, unsightly scar, micro-lipo can leave two little scars that look like mosquito bites. In addition, the downtime is very minimal.

And a micro-lipo session is not limited to getting rid of unwanted fats. An unattractive bump on the upper back area, for example, can be removed though this innovative procedure.

Depending on the coverage, micro-liposuction can require either full or local anesthesia and can cost between $2,000 and $5,000.
