Dr. Russell W. H. Kridel is a world-renowned specialist in cosmetic surgery of the face and neck. He puts special emphasis on cosmetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty and aging face surgery. He is also an expert in primary rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction. He is a noted specialist in septal perforation surgery, a very difficult surgical procedure. Other procedures that Dr. Kridel performs include laser resurfacing, blepharoplasty, and hair transplant surgery.
Houston facial plastic surgeon Dr. Kridel received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1975. He then did residencies in general surgery and in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. While a resident there, he co-authored a book on medical cost containment, which was published by the American Medical Association.
Dr. Kridel was board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1981. In 1984, he became a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Since 1984, he has been a fellowship director for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He eventually became a fellow of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Currently, he serves on the board of directors and is a board examiner in facial plastic surgery for both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Kridel holds faculty appointments at the University of Texas Medical School -Houston and Baylor College of Medicine, and is on the medical staff of several hospitals in Houston. In 2002, he served as chief of staff of HealthSouth Hospital for Specialized Surgery.
He has published more than 60 book chapters and scientific articles in medical journals, as well as edited a book on revision rhinoplasty. A sought-after speaker at meetings and courses, his speaking engagements have taken him to cities throughout the U.S., as well as Italy, Colombia, Jordan, Mexico, Canada, Egypt, Holland, and Japan.
Dr. Kridel established the Cosmetic Laser Institute of Texas, which has four state-of-the-art lasers that address a variety of patient concerns, from tattoo and birthmark removal to the elimination of wrinkles and hair.
