The nicest nose. It doesn’t stop there.

The nicest nose -- your cosmetic surgeon will assure you that, or you couldn’t care less; because you are bent on possessing a slender celebrity-like nose and you’re dying to get one at any cost, in any way.

Now, should you have an open or closed rhinoplasty?  Which one is better?

Yes, a nose job is not as simple as pinching the button slim and tight.  Remember, you own that nose.  You cannot leave everything to your plastic surgeon’s discretion.  At least you should know what is being ‘opened’, and how ‘close’ it can get.

An open rhinoplasty procedure, also called an external rhinoplasty, involves a very small incision set on the piece of skin between two nostrils (columella).  This way, the tip of the nose is “opened” to reveal the structure of the lower and middle third of the nose.

On the other hand, it is called closed rhinoplasty, or endonasal rhinoplasty, when all of the incisions made for recontouring and reconstructing the nose are made inside the nostrils.  There are no skin incisions; instead after making the incisions, the skin is lifted off of the underlying cartilage and bone.

However, studies reveal that most cosmetic surgery patients are not to be nosy about details of their surgery.  Eventually, the question ‘which one is right? -- open or closed – is left for the surgeon to decide.  In any case, a plastic surgeon should be responsible enough to inform the patient about his or her experience and skill on the particular technique, as well as enlighten the patient on the complexity and difficulty of the patient’s actual nose in relation to the selected approach.

A nice plastic surgeon can pull one nicest nose for you – I guess it stops there.
